Suku Talang Mamak/“Suku Tuha tersebar di empat kecamatan yaitu Batang Gansal, Cenaku, Kelayang dan Rengat Barat, Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu dan di Dusun Semarantihan, Desa Suo-Suo, Kecamatan Sumai, Kabupaten Tebo, Jambi. Salah satu versi asal usul suku Talang Mamak yang sangat terkenal diceritakan dalam cerita rakyat tentang Putri Pinang Masak. Konon, di Indragiri hidup tujuh pasang putra-putri yang dilahirkan secara kembar. Ketujuh putra tersebut menjadi pemuda yang gagah berani, sedangkan ketujuh putri tumbuh menjadi gadis cantik jelita. Dari ketujuh putri tersebut, salah seorang di antaranya yang termolek, Putri Pisang Masak namanya.
